Benjamin served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 6, 1944, during the liberation of Vire, France. PFC Black is now buried in the Houston Cemetery, Houston, Chickasaw County, Mississippi, USA.
