Walter Koliga was born on January 26, 1910, in Breslau, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Theodore "Frank" Koliga and Fanny Kulya Koliga.
Walter served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1944, during the liberation of Vire, France. Pvt Koliga is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France.
