Wheeler Luther Light was born on August 10, 1909, in Roanoke County, Virginia. He was the son of Samuel Milton Light and Minnie Gale Shaver Light.
Wheeler served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 7, 1944, during the liberation of Vire, France. PFC Light is now buried in the Shaver-Light Cemetery, Poages Mill, Roanoke County, Virginia, USA.
