Ivan Eugene Mote was born on January 24, 1924, in Servia, Wabash County, Indiana. He was the son of Harry Earl Mote and Golda Marie Heeter Mote. He attended Chester Junior High School. He entered the service in January 1943

Ivan served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Sergeant during World War II. He died from his wounds received in battle on August 8, 1944, during the liberation of Vire, France. Sgt Mote is now buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Servia, Wabash County, Indiana, USA.
