Fisher Pyles was born on February 17, 1924, in Wayne County, West Virginia. He was the son of Ralph James Pyles and Letha Pyles. He worked for James Fry when he registered for the draft in June 1942.

Fisher served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 8, 1944, during the liberation of Vire, France. PFC Pyles is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Departement de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
