Ansel Gregory Wanzitz was born on March 6, 1920, in Duchesne County, Utah. He was the son of Mary Ankerpont Wood Uncasam.
Ansel served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 7, 1944, during the liberation of Vire, France. PFC Wanzitz is now buried in the Roosevelt Memorial Park, Roosevelt, Duchesne County, Utah, USA.
