Born August 20, 1914 in Carthage, Missouri. Colonel Roy W. Evans started his military achievements for England's Royal Air Force, the year was 1944. The Squadron number was 121, which was made up of American Pilots, "The Eagle Squadron." Later that year the U.S. Army Air Corp. got involved. Evans transfered to the 4th Fighter Group and then to the 359th Fighter Group as the C.O. His assignment: Fighter Pilot. Evans led his squads through many missions as bomber escort. He even was a P.O.W. for several months. But with his strength of character and body he came back to become what one local newspaper reported him to be San Bernardino's first Ace Fighter Pilot.
