Kilked in action 2 miles south of Flushing, Netherlands. Engine smoked and lost speed, he went into the North Sea 55 miles east of Clacton, UK. He bailed out too late, chute not seen to open. He was seen in the water with his face awash. Was not rescued, no trace.
