Casimer P. Klawinski was born on August 23, 1912. He was the son of Steve Kiska and Anna M. Hornyak Kiska. He served in the 603rd Bomber Squadron, 398th Bomb Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Flight Engineer of B-17 #42-30576 during World War II.

On January 17, 1944, during a training flight, the aircraft experienced engine fires that necessitated an emergency crash landing in a wheat field approximately 1.5 miles southwest of Martin, South Dakota. The crash resulted in the deaths of all crew members.

SSgt Klawinski is now buried in the Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles, Cook County, Illinois, USA. Casimer P. Klawinski's name is inscribed on the Anstey Window Memorial in Panel 1 (left), on Butterfly 2, in the top right wing (section B).
