Edward J. Mizerski was born in 1918. He served in the 603rd Bomber Squadron, 398th Bomb Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Pilot of B-17 #42-30576 during World War II.
On January 17, 1944, during a training flight, the aircraft experienced engine fires that necessitated an emergency crash landing in a wheat field approximately 1.5 miles southwest of Martin, South Dakota. The crash resulted in the deaths of all crew members.
SSgt Mizerski is now buried in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleums, Justice, Cook County, Illinois, USA. Edward J. Mizerski's name is inscribed on the Anstey Window Memorial in Panel 1 (left), on Butterfly 1, in the top left wing (section A).
