Peter Lee Paget was born on July 12, 1923, in Oregon. He was the son of Merwyn Edward Paget and Aileen Violet Ambrose Paget. He served in the 603rd Bomber Squadron, 398th Bomb Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Navigator of a B-17 Flying Fortress during World War II.

On the night of January 17, 1944, during a routine bombing training mission, an emergency landing was attempted on a designated grass landing area. The landing might have succeeded, but the aircraft overshot the intended zone and came to rest in a nearby wheat field. The incident caused the death of seven crew.

2Lt Paget was Killed in Action and is now buried in the River View Cemetery, Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, USA. Peter L. Paget's name is inscribed on the Anstey Window Memorial in Panel 3 (right), on Butterfly 22, in the bottom left wing (section C).
