Alfred Charles Stoddard was born on December 14, 1909, in Globe, Gila County, Arizona. He was the son of Alfred Clark Stoddard and Katherine Philomena Gahan Stoddard. He served in the 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, as a First Lieutenant during World War II.

1Lt Stoddard was Killed in Action on August 19, 1944, during the liberation of Argentan, France. He is now buried in the Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery, Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA.
