Gulick Robinson Jr. was born on September 6, 1920, in Texas. He was the son of Gulick Robinson Sr. and Nettie Lee Jordan Robinson. He enlisted in the service on November 10, 1941. He served in the 53rd Fighter Squadron, 36th Fighter Group, as a Captain and Pilot of P-47 Thunderbolt #42-26110 during World War II.
On August 2, 1944, the aircraft was shot down over France during a mission near Noyon in the Oise department. The aircraft had taken off from Station 418 in Kingsnorth, Kent, UK. Around 16:40, it was hit by anti-aircraft fire (flak) near the commune of Grandrū, approximately 7 kilometers northeast of Noyon. It is believed that Cpt Robinson attempted to bail out, but his parachute became entangled with the aircraft.
Cpt Robinson was Killed in Action and is now buried in the Oakwood Cemetery, Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas, USA.
