Frank Llewellyn Hamilton Clarke was born on December 18, 1883, in Corning, Steuben County, New York. He was the son of Stephen and Eva May Clarke. He had previously served two terms in the U.S. Army before enlisting in Canada’s 2nd Expeditionary Force, serving with Company A, 18th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Western Ontario Regiment), as a Private during World War I.

Pvt Clarke was Killed in Action on November 5, 1915, by a gunshot to the head. He is now buried in the Ridge Wood Military Cemetery, Voormezele, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders, Belgium.
