John Frank Kiley was born on November 8, 1894, in Minnesota. He was the son of John Kiley and Nancy Belle McGuire Kiley. He served in the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles Battalion, as a Private during World War I.

Pvt Kiley was Killed in Action on June 2, 1916, when an enemy shell exploded and landed in the trenches near him in Sanctuary Wood. His name is memorialized on the Menin Gate Memorial, Panel #32 in Ypres, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders, Belgium.
