William Francis Kingrey was born on April 24, 1893, in Lovington, Moultrie County, Illinois. He was the son of David Kingrey and Susan H. Kingrey. He was a farmer before enlisting in the service. He served in the 5th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment), as a Private during World War I.

Pvt Kingrey was Killed in Action on November 10, 1917, in Belgium. His name is memorialized on the Menin Gate Memorial, Panel #18 in Ypres, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders, Belgium. He also has a cenotaph in the Keller Cemetery, Lovington, Moultrie County, Illinois, USA.
