William Newton Strong, Jr. was born on August 20, 1887 in Washington, DC, a graduate from Princeton college, Class of 1911. He was the son of William Newton and Josephine Martha Douglass Strong. William, Jr. enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 27 Jan 1915 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Lieutenant Strong served in France with the Eaton Motor Machine Gun Battery of the Canadian Machine Gun Corps. He died on December 21, 1919 at the age of 32, gassed at Vimy Ridge, France and is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
