                        Comments:
1st Lt Harry S. Katoski, pilot of the P-47 Thunderbolt 42-28285, took off from A-7 at Azeville on an armed reconnaissance from Granville to S of Saint-Lo. His plane’s engine cut out, no doubt due to the heavy flak fire sustained. Lt Katoski bailed out, but he wasn’t high enough and crashed into the ground before his parachute could open. His body was found some 200m from the wreck.
