1st Lt Dale M. Fisher, pilot of the B-17 42-31432 “Old Glory”, took off from Molesworth, Cambridgeshire, UK on a bombing mission over Lille’s railroad infrastructure. Lt Fisher died when his plane crashed after being hit by German flak at 1900.
