1st Lt Henry Compton Benitez, co-pilot of the B-17 42-31927, took off from station 117 in Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire, UK on a bombing mission over Rouen. They were shot down by flak at 1305. Seven crew members were able to bail out successfully. Benitez was not. He was on loan from the 524th Bomber Squadron.
