2nd Lt Earl J. Rugg, co-pilot of the B-26 Marauder 42-95851 “Vivacious Veronica”, took off from station 166 in Matching Green, Essex, UK on a bombing mission over Nogent-le-Roi’s bridge. The plane was shot down by flak at 1910. Only SSgt Hanzl survived.
