Joseph P. “Joe” Powers was born on September 22, 1920. Powers is the son of Mr. Thomas A. & Mrs. Nellie M. {Barnett} Powers of Peoria, Illinois, and the husband of Mrs. Betty J. {Daily} Powers of Peoria. He was a 1938 graduate of Manual Training H.S. He entered the military service in Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during the Normandy Invasion of World War II as a Sergeant in A Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He ended his military service as a Corporal. He died on October 13, 2015 of natural causes and is now buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery, West Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois, USA.
