Luther Marney Tillery was born in Dallas on October 7, 1922. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Tillery, 917 Cristler. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, where he lettered in football two years. He also attended Texas A&M College prior to entering the Army January 14, 1943. Tillery was a member of Section 2 of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, a part of the 82nd Airborne Division. He participated in parachute jumps during the Normandy and Holland invasions and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was killed in action in France on March 14, 1945 and is now buried in Grove Hill Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, USA.
