Edward J. Weeks was the third of four sons born to Frank and Ella Weeks. He was born in 1920 in New Jersey. In 1930 the family lived at 552 Chelton Avenue in Camden's 8th Ward, near the Camden Brewery operated by F.A. Poth and Sons. Frank Weeks then worked as a truck driver. Besides Edward, there were older brothers Elwood, and Frank Jr., and younger brother Alfred. The Weeks family later moved to 1622 Crosslynn Avenue in neighboring Woodlynne NJ. Edward Weeks had a grammar school education and was single when he was drafted.

Edward Weeks served in the United States Army on September 12, 1942 at Camden NJ. In the November 16, 1943 edition of the Camden Courier-Post, it was reported that he had gone overseas with a parachute unit, and that his brother was Frank was stationed at Nashville TN.

Edward Weeks was a member of Company B, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He was killed in action on D-Day June 6, 1944 after parachuting into France. He is now buried in New Camden Cemetery, Camden, Camden County, New Jersey, USA.
