When Daniel B. West was born on September 16, 1923, his father, Ery, was 33 and his mother, Rebecca, was 23. He entered the military service in Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during the Normandy Invasion of World War II as a Private First Class in E Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He died on May 15, 2005 and is now buried in Highland Baptist Church Cemetery, Vass, Moore County, North Carolina, USA.
