When Raymond Leo Branshaw was born on August 18, 1895, in Wisconsin, his father, William, was 24 and his mother, Clara, was 27. He had one daughter with Barbara Ann Kistner Werner in 1917. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company K, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was declared "Missing in Action" on May 28, 1918 and is commemorated on Tablets of the Missing, Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France.
