When Anthony Alonzo "Lon" Meadors was born on September 23, 1892, his father, Middleton, was 36 and his mother, Martha, was 35. He entered the military service in Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company A, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on May 27, 1918 and is now buried in Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France. His name is inscribed on the Cantigny monument as PFC L MEADOWS.
