When Joseph L. Moore was born in April 1888, his father, Joseph, was 31 and his mother, Susan, was 32. He had three brothers and two sisters. He entered the military service in Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company E, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
