When Raymond E. McCammack was born on June 17, 1894, in Putnam, Indiana, his father, John, was 31 and his mother, Mary, was 26. He had four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 22, 1918 at the age of 24and is now buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana, USA.
