When Floyd Kelly Welch was born on August 11, 1892, in Angelina, Texas, his father, Byantha, was 31 and his mother, Susan, was 17. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division.
