When George E. McGill was born on February 21, 1895, in Findlay, Ohio, his father, Charles, was 28 and his mother, Anna, was 29. He had two sisters. He entered the military service in Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on August 9, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
