Leo Bamby was born on October 15, 1887 in Italy. He entered the military service in Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company A, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 23, 1918 at the age of 30 and is now buried in Suresnes American Cemetery, Suresnes, France.
