When Joe Busker was born in 1891, his father, Peter, was 46 and his mother, Christina, was 33. He had five siblings. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a pvt in Company A, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action near Soissons in France on July 18, 1918 and is now buried in Milbank Cemetery, Milbank, Grant County, South Dakota, USA. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as PVT J BUSHER.
