When Charles Sherman Moore was born on November 30, 1888, in Short Creek, Ohio, his father, George, was 20 and his mother, Eliza, was 17. He had two brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 23, 1918 at the age of 19, in France and is now buried in Short Creek Cemetery, Georgetown, Harrison County, Ohio, USA.
