Frank W. Hoppe was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hoppe. He was 21 years of age, and was employed by the Freidel Paper Box company before he enlisted in June 1917. He received his training at Camp Syracuse and went overseas in November 1917. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company D, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 19, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
