Clyde L. Barnum was born on October 14, 1895 in Fairfield, Butler County, Ohio. He entered the military service in California. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company D, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as a Corporal in Company E.
