When Aaron "Ray" Griffin was born in February 1894 in Indiana, his father, Adam, was 34 and his mother, Sarah, was 31. He had four brothers and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company I, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France.
