When Harold Everett Kinne was born on February 28, 1896, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, his father, William, was 22 and his mother, Isabelle, was 18. He had one sister. He entered the military service in Idaho. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Second Lieutenant in Company K, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 19, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
