Jaroslav "Jerry" Drabek was born on November 21, 1889, in Teplice, North Bohemia, Czech Republic. He married Maria "Mary" Caloun on June 19, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois. They had one child during their marriage. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company K, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 21, 1918, at the age of 28, in France and is now buried in St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles, Cook County, Illinois, USA. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as a Private.
