Son of Charles S. and Jennie Pherson League; born September 27, 1897, Greenwood, Johnson County, Ind. When a mere boy he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Brown, Duff, Dubois County, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army February 9, 1917, Huntingburg, Ind. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio; assigned to Machine Gun Company, 16th Regiment. Transferred to El Paso, Tex. Overseas June 12, 1917. Participated in numerous battles. Killed in action at Soissons, sometime between July 19 and 24, 1918.
