When Lee Thomas Ford was born on August 10, 1899, in Nilwood, Illinois, his father, John, was 20 and his mother, Ann, was 26. He had two brothers and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company B, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as a Private First Class.
