When John Miner Roche was born in October 1895, his father, Alexander, was 38 and his mother, Catherine, was 28. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was killed by a sniper during battle on July 20, 1918 in France and is now buried in Saint Peter & Paul Cemetery Arcade, Wyoming County, New York, USA.
