Son of Eugene and Martha Lasley; born February 9, 1895, Danville, Indiana. Living on a farm near Greencastle, Indiana, when he entered service September 23, 1917. Sent to Camp Taylor, Kentucky; assigned to 31st Company, 8th Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp Shelby, Mississippi; embarked for overseas June 11, 1918; assigned to Company D, 18th Infantry, 1st Division. Killed in action July 20, 1918, near Soissons, France. (Burial place unknown.)

"Burial place unknown" could mean that the book was published before the remains were returned or the remains were never found. Unsure at that time. He is now buried in Hadley Friends Cemetery, Hadley, Hendricks County, Indiana, USA.
