Corporal Wrona, who was employed at the Union mine, enlisted in the Infantry on April 29, 1917, at the La Salle recruiting office. After a short period of training he was sent to France with the first contingent of American troops to go overseas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 20, 1918 and is now buried in St. Vincent Cemetery, La Salle, LaSalle County, Illinois, USA.
