When Rosco Ray Priestley and his twin sister May Josephine were born on March 21, 1897, in Kansas, their father, John, was 33, and their mother, Ann, was 35. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 22, 1918, at the age of 21 and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. His body was found lying in a wheat field face downward. His surname is inscribed on the Buzancy monument in France as Priestly.
