Clyde Davis was serving as the bombardier on board a B-17F "Flying Fortress" known as "Sky Queen" when it encountered enemy first over The Netherlands and crashed near Opende while returning from a mission over Kassel, Germany, where there was an airplane factory. He is buried alongside three of his fellow crew members.
