Victor O. Crane was born on June 8, 1881 in North Dakota. He was the son of Mrs. J. M. McClean and unmarried. He entered the military service in Missouri and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Second Lieutenant in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action near Soissons but declared "Missing" on July 19, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
