When James Lloyd Riddle was born on November 9, 1893, in Kentucky, his father, George, was 29 and his mother, Ida, was 20. He had three brothers and one sister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company D, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 16, 1918 (at the age of 24) in France and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. His headstone shows he is in 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division.
