Murray Robert Dawson was born on August 19, 1900 in Rush County, Indiana. He entered the military service in Ohio and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Mechanic in Company K, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 (at the age of 17) and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument in Company D of his unit.
