Charles Edward Labno was born on October 27, 1921. He served in the 506th Fighter Squadron, 404th Fighter Group, as a Fighter Pilot on the P-47 #42-75098 during World War II. On June 22, 1944, on his 9th mission, 2Lt Labno took off from airfield Station 414 in Winkton, England, on a beach patrol. At 05:27H, 2Lt Labno suddenly called that his engine was failing and he was bailing out. But he never got out. His plane dove straight into the ground near Grandcamp on Omaha Beach. 2Lt Labno was killed in this incident. He is now buried in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleums, Justice, Cook County, Illinois, USA.
